Dust Extraction Systems · New Zealand Wide

A well designed dust extraction system will transform your workplace.

Investment in a properly engineered system pays for itself — with healthier staff, longer-lasting equipment and a clean, compliant workplace. We design, specify and install custom systems for woodworking, metalworking, food processing and education sectors — using globally proven, tested products, not one-off fabrications.

  • Source capture engineered for your machinery
  • ATEX-rated explosion protection where required
  • Installed and commissioned by our own team

Industries we serve

Custom systems for the workshops that need them most

Every workplace is different. We design from your machines and processes — not a catalogue.

Woodworking & Joinery

Low-cost systems that can be expanded as your business grows. NZ Duct offer proven, tested units for fine dust exposure at 1/3 of the NZ limits.

Metalworking & Welding

Spark arrestors, fume arms, welding benches, downdraft tables and toxic-particle filtration to keep welders breathing clean air.

Food Processing

Hygienic, washdown-ready capture systems with explosion protection for grain, flour and combustible dusts — including products for packing and tipping operations.

Schools & Education

Workshop extraction systems that meet Ministry of Education guidelines — with unique explosion relief systems (Vertical Flameless Venting) that surpass MoE guidelines for safer students and easy maintenance.

Why source capture

Grab the dust where it’s created — before it spreads.

Ambient extraction (like roof fans) sucks up dust after it has already filled the room, settled on equipment and reached the people working there. Source capture intercepts it at the cutter, the grinder, the welding torch — the moment it’s generated.

  • Healthier staff. Lower respiratory exposure and a visibly cleaner workplace.
  • Lower maintenance. Bearings, electronics and finished products last longer.
  • Compliance ready. Designed to meet WorkSafe, ATEX and MoE expectations.
  • System balanced. Right airflow at every machine — not just the closest one.

Our process

From first call to commissioned, running system

  1. 1

    Site visit & assessment

We come to your workplace, see your machines, understand your processes and any compliance constraints. No charge, no obligation.

  2. 2

    Custom design & quote

CAD-drawn system tailored to your floor plan, with airflow calculated at every drop. You’ll see exactly what we’re proposing and why.

  3. 3

    Install, commission & handover

Our team installs and commissions the full system — then walks you through operation and maintenance, with a written manual provided for your installation.

Who you’ll be talking to

Talk to the person who’ll design your system

There’s no call centre and no rep reading off a catalogue. The person who walks your floor is the person who designs your system — and between them they’ve spent more than fifty years solving dust problems in New Zealand workshops.

George Matusek reviewing a duct system CAD layout

George Matusek

Engineering Sales Manager

Auckland and upper North Island

George works out the airflow and velocity at every drop, so your fan, ducting and filter are sized to your actual machines instead of guessed. He came to NZ Duct from the Czech Republic, where he engineered HVAC systems for universities, airports and large new builds. Schools know him well — he has spent years keeping technology blocks compliant and students safe.

Best for: sizing calculations, school technology blocks, Auckland and upper North Island sites.

Scott Saunders on site with a dust filter unit

Scott Saunders

Southern Territory Manager

South Island and lower North Island

Thirty years in dust and fume extraction, nearly ten of them here. Scott has worked across mechanical ventilation, industrial process plants and scientific and chemical environments — and he is hands-on about it. He would rather walk your site and turn a complicated problem into a clear, affordable plan than post you a brochure.

Best for: process and manufacturing plants, MoE SuperSafe school installs, South Island and lower North Island sites.

Geoff Ebdon in the workshop with a fume extraction arm

Geoff Ebdon

Director

Nationwide — complex and higher-risk projects

Geoff has been solving dust and fume problems for New Zealand businesses since 2006. He works directly with JKF’s engineers and visits the European factories every year, which is why we specify equipment proven across thousands of installations rather than fabricated one-off for your job.

“So many companies are still selling products that look like they have come out of the 50’s and 60’s.”

Best for: complex or higher-risk projects, explosion protection, and anything where you want the specification challenged before you commit budget.
